By Football Italian staffThe 2017 Super Rugby champions have returned to the national side for a third year in succession.
This season the champions of Italy have come back to their roots, after the club had failed to make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League in the previous two seasons.
It’s a sign that the team is ready for a bigger stage in 2018.
A group of players from the former Pro 13, which included Romeo Caruso, Alessandro Diamanti, Antonio Cassano, Giuseppe Marotta and Maurizio Bertolacci, was named in the squad for the first match against the New Zealand All Blacks in Hamilton.
The squad will include the likes of Fabio Becchetti, Benoit de Gouw, Alexey Gogic and Marco Scarbini.
The team will also be led by Rui Morais, who has already featured in five of the five matches against the All Blacks, with the first game against them being on November 8.
It will be a new challenge for the All Black squad after their Super Rugby campaign ended on the 11th.
Rugby is a sport with a rich history in Italy, and the return of the champions for the second time in the last three years is a boost for the Italian squad.
Ruggerio Carusi is a player who has always been on the fringes of the Italian national side.
The centre has been in the team for three seasons now, after his contract expired at the end of last year.
However, he has never played for the national team and has not represented Italy at a World Cup.
In the past he has been linked with a move to the French side Rennes and was also linked with moves to Italy.
It is a sign of the club’s confidence that Carusio is finally playing in front of his home crowd.
Cariosi was named as captain in the 2016 World Cup squad, after he led Italy to victory over the Bath Lions in the semi final, and also scored a try.
Carisi was also the player who led the Italy team to victory in the 2013 World Cup final against France before he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for two years.
He was also a key member of the squad that defeated the Copenhagen Eagles in last year’s semi-final.
“Ruggeo’s confidence is very good,” Alessandro Bertolaccini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I think he has always tried to be a leader and to be with the team.
I think he will have a big role in the Super Rugby squad.”
Bertolacci said he was looking forward to seeing the squad.
Bermuda’s Giuseppe Gagliano was named captain for the third consecutive year, after making his international debut in the 2015 World Cup against South Africa and then making his Super Rugby debut in 2019.
Gagliani has featured in every game of the season for the club, with only two of them being played away from home.
Italy are now unbeaten in all five matches they have played at home, with two of those coming against the British and Irish Lions in the autumn.
They are currently in third place in the standings.
This year’s Super Rugby side will be supported by the Toulon Tigers and Newcastle Eels.
